Always passionate about the human condition and wellness, I studied sociology at Boston College and Human Development and Psychology at The Harvard Graduate School of Education where I earned my Master of Education. While teaching middle school in the Lower East Side, I found my way to a yoga studio and have not put my mat away since. I earned my Yoga Teacher Training 200 hour at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health; completed additional intensive training in meditation; and hold a prenatal yoga certificate from Tranquil Space DC.
I have been writing poetry in the margins of notebooks since college. I have found writing to be a therapeutic ally on my life path and don't go a day without picking up my pen. I am currently working on a memoir about my journey with breast cancer. In the meantime, you can find my musings on my blog.
What a journey family is! Matt and I have been traveling on this path together for nearly 16 years and the basics remain: consistent communication, mutual respect and, perhaps most importantly, fun. Our three daughters: Francesca, Lilian and Blair, teach us unending life lessons.
I have a menu of poignant sessions that I will adapt to the needs of your group, organization or company. Examples include: mindfulness for busy times; techniques to stay centered & productive; cultivating gratitude and compassion; yoga for the workplace; mindful writing; and the revolution of rest.
Truly taking care of ourselves is deep, meaningful work. Having both a guide and a witness can be invaluable. I will provide tried and true techniques and support as you practice and play with what most resonates for you. I adore supporting people as they travel their unique path, and then watching them soar.
I offer programs in yoga, mindfulness and self-care for youth ages five and up. I also support schools and educators as they work to maintain both self-care and community during these challenging times.. .

"Like every instructor I met at Kripalu, Katie could not be better at her job: her amplified voice was soothing and melodic as she guided us through prone stretches and standing balance poses. The hour passed in what felt like 10 minutes. I do yoga only a few times a year, and I’m always struck by how loose and healthy I feel afterward. Walking to the dining hall, I wondered how amazing I’d feel if I began a “practice” with a yogi like Katie every day."

"This experience has been an absolutely amazing investment in self. Personally, the self-care tips and reflection exercises that Katie thoughtfully plans are exactly what is needed during this extremely stressful time. The staff and I did not realize how much we needed Katie’s guidance through this difficult time until we started meeting with her. Anxiety levels have decreased and productivity has increased. I recommend Katie without reservation."
Brianne Wetzel, Head of School, Washington School for Girls
"I cannot recommend Katie enough! Katie has worked with our school to create a tailored, thoughtful and responsive self-care series for our teachers and staff. Our staff looks forward to our weekly gatherings with Katie and her peaceful and steady presence is such a gift in these uncertain times! Katie has introduced strategies for breathing, meditation, mindfulness and movement that both support teachers' own mindfulness practices and can be easily adapted for the classroom."
